Why compress an image to exactly 50KB?
Fifty kilobytes is the most useful single target in exam applications: it is the maximum of the 20–50 KB range that SSC and IBPS set for candidate photographs, so a photo compressed to exactly 50 KB is both acceptable and the sharpest version the rules allow. Many other forms — university admissions, scholarship portals, job applications — use the same 50 KB neighbourhood for photo uploads.
Working backwards from the limit matters more than people expect. Shrink a 4 MB photo by “80%” and you get roughly 800 KB — still sixteen times too big. This tool instead tests quality settings until the output lands at or just under 50 KB, reducing dimensions only if the photo is extremely large, so you keep every bit of quality your form's allowance pays for.

Frequently asked questions
Is a 50KB photo good enough quality for SSC or IBPS?
Yes — 50 KB is the top of their official 20–50 KB range, so it is literally the best quality those forms permit. Combined with the specified 200 × 230 pixel dimensions, the on-screen and printed photo stays clear.
Why not always compress to 50KB?
Because every form sets its own cap. A portal that demands under 20 KB or under 30 KB will reject a 50 KB file, however good it looks. Match the number in your form's instructions — this page exists for the many forms whose number is 50.
My photo is 6MB. Can it really reach 50KB?
Yes. The tool first lowers JPEG quality through a fine-grained search, and for very high-resolution photos it also reduces dimensions — a form photo displayed at 200 × 230 pixels does not need a 4000-pixel-wide original. The before/after panel shows the exact result before you download.
